It depends on how a game handles difficulty. What are your guys and girls thoughts on the subject? What is the proper balance between difficulty and playability? Do you think players should 'choose their own difficulty' like in Hitman games? I felt that Hitman was a game that struck an excellent balance between difficulty and playability, because the game allowed players to do the easy route, but rewarded them for challenging themselves with higher rankings etc.

I feel some single player games strive for an incredibly high level of difficulty that prevents me from simply enjoying the adventure, while many others such as Call of Duty are so painfully easy on normal, but become punishingly difficult on higher difficulty settings. I like a game that I'm able to play through without too much difficult, but that occasionally has really challenging and intense bits. For me I play StarCraft somewhat competitively, so that's where I go when I'm seeking a true challenge, but when I play single player games I don't want it to be a cake walk.
